The Guardian, 1985  (printed November 27th 1993)

On a bitterly cold November eight years ago, I caught a plane to Crete. In my hand luggage were 30 pairs of hotpants, a peroxide blonde wig and a Bible. I wasn’t travelling alone. Fidgeting in the seat next to me, chewing sweets and yelping along to Michael Jackson on her walkman, was my young charge, Naomi Campbell.

Armani Typecasting, Los Angeles Times, March 20, 1992

… earlier this week was model extraordinaire Naomi Campbell. She came via chauffeured limousine to have her peau primed for her part in a Michael Jackson video that Herb Ritts  is shooting. Turned out in an Azzedine Alaia black leather jacket and spring’s de rigueur platform shoes Campbell  was whisked into Henriksen’s private treatment room. Then minutes later sans chauffeur and  platforms in walked a jeansclad Madonna utterly blond who made nice with the women in the waiting room before her facial. When the two emerged they chatted like old friends and probably compared pores.

Michael films the video for In The Closet directed by Herb Ritts and featuring Naomi Campbell.

Chicago Tribune, April 1 1992

Campbell didn’t come for the shows (thank heavens for small favors) because she’s off in California making a video with her pal, Michael Jackson.

Cindy Crawford interview on Location, 1992

Cindy: Hi I’m Cindy Crawford. I’m standing in the desert somewhere outside of Los Angeles. We’re on location with Michael Jackson and Herb Ritts to shoot the video for In The Closet, the next release from Michael’s Dangerous album. Let’s see what happens when these two talents come together.
It was the song that really said to me, keep it simple, make it just about the dance. It’s a courtship dance between a guy and a girl.
What’s your part in this video?
Naomi: It’s about a girl who wants to get uh, out of the closet and be loved outside in the open and be free with her love and having him be physical and loving with her, but he’d like to keep her in the closet.
Cindy: Video shoots like this don’t happen every day. This is a major production. I got one of those rare chances to talk to Michael Jackson and he told me that while he’s always involved with all his projects this is the first time he’s shared a director’s credit.

Cindy: Are you kissing Michael in this video?
Naomi: No, but I wanna kiss him. (giggles) I may kiss him but I mean if I kiss him it won’t be for the screen.
Cindy: Michael Jackson and Herb Ritts, quite an intriguing combination. The hot desert, a hot girl and hot dancing, who knows what to expect? But you can bet it’ll be something else.

“Video Slut” by Sharon Oreck,

“Sharon…” Naomi drawls in her broad British accent. “I’m just not getting it together with Michael, and I don’t know whats going wrong. Herb said you could tell me what to do.”

“Naomi, if in the end you can’t count on Michael to come to you, maybe you should just think about going to him.”

All of a sudden Naomi’s face lights up, as if she has just heard the solution to The Da Vinci Code. Then we see Naomi pull Michael over for a confidential tete-a-tete, after which Michael literally leaps away from her and disappears into his trailer. Herb is summoned to the trailer and emerges to ask me, “What exactly did you tell Naomi to do earlier?”

“Nothing really, I just told her to dance closer to him. Why?”

“Michael said that Naomi asked him if she could, uh, uh, suck his cock!”

After the video shoot MTV hosts an event called MY DINNER WITH MICHAEL.

Sharon Oreck said, “I saw Herb making his entrance past the paparazzi with Naomi, who appeared to be ten sheets to the wind at least forty paces before she even got to the bar.

“Naomi! Herb!” the photographers shoutas Herb attempted to steer Naomi down the red carpet. How’s the video?”

“I want to suck Michael Jackson’s cock!”

Naomi dutifully tried to inform the free press as Herb shoved her in the door while attempting to gag her with his spare hand.

“My Dinner With Michael Jackson,” April 1 1992

The usually shy superstar danced in a conga line and dined on vegetarian fare with model Naomi Campbell and photographer Herb Ritts. “He was having a good time,” says contest winner Donna Frieden, who shook Jackson’s ungloved hand. “He was reserved and soft-spoken, but very warm.He was smiling a lot. I jumped right next to him in the conga line.” Jackson, who wrapped his In the Closet video earlier on a nearby set, visited with the lynx, panther and other exotic creatures before joining the festivities. “He was laughing and chatting it up with everyone,” says MTV’s Kathy Flynn, who arranged for the party’s carnival games, stilt walkers, magician, palm reader, Brazilian dancers and Caribbean band. A camel, an elephant, a black panther and a spider monkey that drank virgin daiquiris were among those at MTV’s lavish tented bash Sunday outside Palm Springs, Calif.

Another article on “My Dinner With Michael Jackson” April 1 1992

The tour was to be the biggest in pop history; from start to finish it would last eighteen months. During that time, and in the run-up to the launch, I got to see a lot of Michael Jackson. Our first meeting took place in the middle of the Californian desert: Jackson was throwing a huge dinner party just yards away from where he had been shooting his in the Closet video with the beautiful British model, Naomi Campbell; and fifty miles outside the fashionable Californian holiday resort of Palm Springs. The party was staged in conjunction with top pop TV station, MTV. MTV had run a competition offering dinner with Michael Jackson as the prize, and they had received a staggering 4.1 million entries from all over the world.

Thirty lucky winners realized the dream of a lifetime: they were Michael’s and MTV’s special guests that night at the party, which was attended by a hundred privileged guests. Demi Woo from Taiwan told me:’I still can’t believe it’s true. I can’t believe I’ve met Michael. He’s my absolute hero.

The E150,000 bash was one of the most spectacular parties the pop world had ever seen: it featured leopards, panthers, elephants, camels, near-naked girl samba dancers, magicians and fire-eaters. Michael, decked out in a black shirt with red epaulettes and black satin trousers, arrived at the party at 7 o’clock, just an hour after breaking off from his video-shooting. The normally reclusive pop star revealed a side of his personality that he had kept under wraps for years – that of a fun-loving extrovert. We saw once again what Jackson was like when he really let his hair down. At one point he even led a conga line up and down the length of the makeshift tent where the party was held. As the evening went on, his smile got larger and larger. At one point he even gave us a private preview of his dancing skills: he got up on the dance floor and showed why he is such a disco thriller. He boogied with guests, including some of the skimpily clad Brazilian dancers dressed in yellow bras and G-strings who had earlier entertained him. I danced alongside him but found it hard to keep up with his frantic steps. The singer, then thirty-three years old, was having such fun that he spent a whole two hours at the party, even posing for group pictures with the winners. For much of the time he chatted, laughed and joked with Naomi Campbell, who sat by his side. He seemed more relaxed and at ease than he had for a long time. Also sitting at the table with Jackson was his video director, top fashion photographer Herb Ritts. The video, in which Jackson is featured with Naomi Campbell and four flamenco dancers, was shot in black and white and Ritts was thrilled with it. He told me:’Michael was a dream to work with. He is very receptive of new ideas. We should have finished already but we’ve had some bad weather.

But the bash nearly started off on a nasty note. As he arrived, the animal-loving Michael went to stroke a baby leopard which snapped at him viciously. However, the singer refused to be daunted: he joked with the animal’s trainer, gathered up a couple of the children who were waiting outside to meet him, and made his way into the party, where he was greeted with screams and shrieks from the waiting guests. He was escorted to the top table, where he sat down to sign autographs and talk to awestruck fans.

He himself was awestruck as he watched the fire-eaters, the acrobats and the dancers who had been summoned to perform for the king of all performers. He was astounded when one of the troupe lay on a four-foot bed of nails while a pretty girl walked all over his back. At this point, Jackson sat a little three-year-old girl on his knee so she could get a better view of some of the show. He was just as impressed with the magician, who came to his table and performed a variety of dazzling card tricks. ‘I’d like to do some of those,’ he told him.

During the party Jackson confessed: ‘I’m having a wonderful time. Some of these acts are amazing. It’s a real fun atmosphere.’ When his minders and aides tried to get him to go, Jackson wouldn’t budge. He told them: ‘I want to see the next act, it’s a guy who walks on broken glass and eats it.’ The star sat rooted in his chair for the next fifteen minutes as he marvelled at the daredevil performance.

The food was every bit as good as the entertainment. It had been prepared by Jackson’s special Sikh chef, who runs a catering company called Ashaka and cooks all Jackson’s meals for him.

The singer admitted he was thrilled about touring again for the first time in four years: ‘I’m really looking forward to performing again. I love being on stage. I can’t wait to come to Britain. ! had a great time when I was in London recently.

Despite his enjoyment, the party left Jackson whacked. When one of the MTV winners, Margarietta Carreras from New Jersey, asked him to dance the smiling star told her: ‘I’d love to, but please excuse me this time, I feel a little tired.’ Then the singer told MTV bosses,’Thanks for everything, it’s been a thriller of an evening,’ and disappeared into the desert night.

From the book “It’s All About L.O.V.E” about a fan who was at the dinner, April 1 1992

“The cmeras flashed; cameraman were filming like crazy, and out of the blue came Naomi Campbell to join us. She is so tall that she had to wear flats, but is so beautiful, not to mention sexy. All of us laughed and danced and had such good time. Michael was giggling and turning the wrong way, we did too, and then he giggled again. The music changed and he and Naomi danced together. I noticed, too she would constantly be bending her head next to Michael’s ear and Michael seemed very annoyed with her that after a while he left her and danced with the kids.”

April 10th 1992

Model Naomi Campbell is featured in the video with Jackson, and she told “A Current Affair” that he is “sweet and shy and sensitive” and “seems to be a very caring, soulful person.”

On the last day of shooting Michael Jackson’s “In the Closet” music video, Naomi Campbell and the singer had a whipped cream fight.

KNBC Entertainment Tonight, 20th April 1992

Naomi says she loved acting the part of this woman who’s after Michael Jackson.

“You see this man and he drives up and you want him and you’re just gonna get him. And you want him and you want him and you’re gonna do whatever you can to drive this man crazy. It’s about being sensual and like hungry and doing it.”

Michael was co-director of this video along with fashion photographer Herb Ritts.

(Herb yelling at Naomi, “Go on Naomi, touch him! Touch him!”)

Directing Naomi to be sexy was not a problem.

“I like to touch people all the time. I mean, I had to push a little bit furthur but I like to be that way.”

Naomi says she’d never met Michael before going on location in the California dessert, but she’d heard what to watch out for with him and she beat him to the punch.

“I heard Michael was a prankstar so before he played a joke on me I wanted to get him. So one day we finished shooting and I pulled out a water pistol (laughs) and laid it on him. Actually, it was tough hiding it up my skirt, because I’m not sure if you’ve seen it but my skirt is very short, so… but I got him. I hid it well.”

Naomi is now one of the world’s most sought after models but before that she was like millions of women, a Michael Jackson fan, and she says that working with him did not change that.

“To me he is a wonderful person, inside and out. He was every thing I thought he would be, or even more.”

Rome News Tribune, 20th April 1992

MTV Music Television will present the planetary premiere of the Michael Jackson “In The Closet” video on Thursday, April 24th at 8:53pm.

The video will have its simultaneous premiere on MTV: music television, the Fox Broadcasting Network and BET in the US at 8:53pm.

MTV’s international affiliates, MTV Europe, MTV Brasil and MTV Asia will also premiere the video that same day.

Shot in the California desert, the video is directed by Herb Ritts and co-stars super model Naomi Campbell. Ritts, who also directed Janet Jackson’s “Love Will Never Do (Without You)” video, describes Jackson’s third video from his latest release “Dangerous” as “a courtship dance… where something unexpected happens.” Naomi describes it as a story about a girl who wants to get out of the closet and be free with her love for her man, but he wants to keep her “in the closet.” The video was co-directed by Jackson and marks his directorial debut.

The planetary premiere of In The Closet is the centerpiece of an evening of Michael Jackson programming hosted by MTV VJ Duff. MTV will air Michael Jackson videos beginning at 8:08pm and continue airing them after the planetary premiere through 9:30pm.

USA TODAY, April 23, 1992

Michael and Naomi start to dance and it’s really hot.” The video is a Campbell coup, but there are sacrifices. “It’s almost impossible to have a personal life,” says Campbell.  “I mean I travel constantly. Back and forth to Europe, sometimes three times in a week.”

Glenda Tapes, 2-1, Sometime Spring-Summer 1992

M: Tell me! Which video ..Black or White, Remember the Time, In the Closet and Bad…Which one do you like the best?
G: I told you that the other night!
M: Which one?
G: Huh?
M: Which one?
G: Which one?
M: yeh
G: (Cut in Tape,) then I like Remember the Time and then I like Jam.
M: You like living “In the Closet” best (laughing)
G: Yeh..Which one do you like?
M: I like Remember the Time. I like Jam..It was real fun doing it with Michael..I liked Remember the Time.. but I had the most fun doing Jam out of all of them.
G: You looked like you were having fun.
M: Yeh, I had fun with Naomi, but, I (whisper) hate doing that. (Laughing)
G: What?
M: She’s a sweetheart. She’s a champ. But, I had the most fun when we were in Chicago doing Jam. I had FUN with Jam.
G: Yeh, it looked like you were having fun.

Video Banned in South Africa, St Petersburg Times, 25th July 1992

The South African government banned Michael Jackson’s In The Closet video from television and Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion double album from import and distribution Friday. The government run South African Broadcasting Corp said the Jackson video is “of a very sensual nature which could offend viewers.”

The Big Breakfast, Sometime 1992-1996

Paula Yates: What’s it like working with Michael Jackson? Tell us about Michael!
Naomi: I think the biggest tip I got was that he’s very professional and you know I watched him in concerts here and watched him in concerts there.
Paula: You winked at him. He claimed! He claimed!
Naomi: (laughs) I did not! He’s like, from the old school. And he’s like live-
Paula: Was he scared of you? Because in the video you have to-
Naomi: I keep hearing that he’s frightened of me. (laugh) But I think it’s because the directors would tell me, Herb would say you have to touch him everywhere, and I’d say, but he doesn’t want me to touch him–
Paula: It’s unimaginable, it’s like touching the Pope!
Naomi: You can’t touch me there and Herb would say, “You have to do it!”
Paula: Did he get upset?
Naomi: No, he just said I was crazy. He was frightened of me because I’m a nymphomaniac.

VIBE magazine, June/July 1995

Naomi Campbell (supermodel/actress, appeared in ‘In the Closet’ video, 1992)
Michael is very involved and on top of everything he puts his name on. He’s shy and sweet, considering all he’s accomplished, but he’s a prankster. When I was doing the video, we had water pistol fights. He’s a perfectionist.

Naomi Campbell Interview Portrait 1996 (@1:37)

Naomi: I’ll put my own music on. (hears music playing and walks into a room and points at TV screen with young Michael singing I Want You Back in 1970 with the purple hat) Look at him! Look at how beautiful he is!

He called up and asked if I’d do his video with Herb Ritts and I said yes, I’d love to. I didn’t believe it at first and then… we had a lot of fun. We were like two children. We had water fights and (giggles) cream can fights, whipped cream can fights. He was great to work with. Michael Jackson is a true, is very professional, he’s a perfectionist. He knows everything. He’s very smart. He knows where every single thing he’s doing, he’s got it under control, he knows everything. People probably wonder how, he has so much going on, but he manages to do it. People like Michael Jackson, Madonna I admire and respect and have much admiration for.

Naomi interview, VH1, July 23rd 1998

NARRATOR: And while Naomi was a star in her own right, she couldn’t believe which megastar wanted her in his next video.

(footage of “In the Closet” shown)

NAOMI: When Herb Ritts (the director of “In the Closet”) called me, I said, “Yeah, right! Michael Jackson really asked ME.”

NARRATOR: The video would be Jackson’s “In the Closet.”

HERB RITTS: And we looked at lots of dancers. And you know, we know Naomi really well and work with her all the time. I remembered she’s a great dancer, she has incredible presence. I wanted kind of a Spanish, exotic kind of a woman and Naomi has an incredible rhythm for this. I mean, and she’s trained as a dancer.

NAOMI: When Herb works, it’s always with such enthusiasm. He loves everything he does, that you just say, “Okay okay, I’m going to do it, count on me, okay.”

NARRATOR: Naomi braved the scorching California desert to meet Michael Jackson.

NAOMI: He was very sweet, he’s very shy. I mean, I would say like, “bloody hell” and he’d say, “Don’t swear, Naomi! Stop cursing!” I’d be like, “Sorry!” (laughs)

NAOMI (commenting on the video): Well, I’m supposed to be flirting…

(woman in the background): You grabbed his @$$.

NAOMI: Did I? I don’t think so.

(footage is shown of Naomi and Michael)

NAOMI: Herb… pushed me to do it. It’s all Herb’s fault, Herb’s the director, I have to do what I’m told. I was being obedient.

NARRATOR: Although she appeared nearly naked in photographs and on the runway, this solo erotic dance brought back the shy little girl in the supermodel.

NAOMI: Well, we had black curtains and everything. They could see it on the monitor, but they were not in front of our faces, ’cause I would never be able to do THAT.

NARRATOR: What Naomi WAS able to do was stay in step with the man who perfected the moonwalk. No easy task…

HERB RITTS: Naomi just has this natural ability to work with him, and it’s very difficult. If he’s being spontaneous, to have somebody who doesn’t dance every day find those moves and work AND have a presence and be flirty AND, um, have that chemistry and that connection.

NAOMI: And I kept up with him. That was what I was there to do.

(footage of Michael pretending to strangle Naomi during an erotic scene)

NAOMI: It was fun. We were joking ALL the time. It was like, jokemaster. It was constantly jokes, jokes, jokes. It was fun.

NAOMI: He had a discipline probably of what it was like to do film, because it’s doing the same thing over and over again, picking up,picking up, in the heat, and the continuity of how your hair has to be, how your makeup has to be, like you wanted to change something on the second day, you can’t. That’s the way you started off, that’s the way you have to keep going.

NARRATOR: And what did the King of Pop compare the Queen of the Fashion Kingdom to?

NAOMI: The sweetest thing Michael said to me was, um, that I reminded him of a fawn, which is like a baby deer. He said that is what he thought I looked like. I thought that like a “Bambi,” and I thought that was very sweet.

NAOMI (during the end of the show, when she was commenting on everybody):

He is a brilliant artist. He is a legend, and always will be.

Discussing Thriller 25, February 2008

Naomi Campbell, seen recently dancing it up in Sobe’s Life Water commercial featuring Thriller, comments about how everybody wanted to learn the dances in that video. She adds, “It was brilliant.”

Parade, 26 June 2009

Naomi Campbell, who paid the festival a brief visit alongside the prime minister’s wife Sarah Brown for the White Ribbon Alliance, a campaign to raise awareness about women who died in pregnancy, was shocked at the news.

Campbell featured in Jackson’s 1992 music video In The Closet, and knew him well. “I’m just like everyone else – in shock,” she said, stood on the top of the Ribbon Tower, looking out at panoramic views over the site.

Jeanne Wolf, June 26, 2009

Some of the memories that were flashing through my mind:

Michael on location in the hot and dusty southern California desert looking a bit thin and vulnerable under the merciless sun. Then the strains of “In the Closet” from his album “Dangerous” drifted across the set and he was rolling on the ground with Naomi Campbell in a sensual embrace that was wild enough to have the crew applauding when the director yelled, “Cut.”  His energy was amazing.

Contactmusic, 28th June 2009

British supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has paid tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON, branding him the “first global superstar”.

Campbell starred in the video promo of the singer’s 1991 track In The Closet, and struck up a firm friendship with the King of Pop.

The beauty was devastated to learn of his passing on Thursday (25Jun09) after he suffered a cardiac arrest – and has paid a moving tribute to the man she calls an “all-time great”.

She tells Vibe.com “I grew up with Michael Jackson, he was a good friend and the most exciting and innovative entertainer to have lived.

“No artist has connected to their audience like Michael and no one will ever be able to match what he has achieved. He gave back to people through his charity work and was an amazing father and human being.

“Michael touched people of every race, nationality, age and was the first truly global superstar. He is one of the all-time greats and his role in popular culture will never be surpassed and never ever be forgotten.”

“The video is smoldering in its simplicity, and is devoid of the special effects and super-embellished wardrobe that had become his trademark, showcasing a new confidence in Michael, his hair pulled off his face in a simple straight ponytail.

“This confidence to be able to simplify and step away from what people expected from him struck a particular chord with me, at the time a young woman growing up in London, and it is something I hold true to to this day. Thank you, Michael.”

Michael Jackson: Womanizer, Did the Gloved One have loved ones?, By Dr. Firpo Carr, Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper, October 1 – 7, 2009

Naomi Campbell (In the Closet): Supermodel Naomi Campbell ravished Michael in this 1991 video, just as her onscreen character called for. In a Vibe interview conducted by Memsor Kamaraké Naomi said the following after hearing of his death: “I grew up with Michael Jackson, he was a good friend and the most exciting and innovative entertainer to have lived. No artist has connected to their audience like Michael and no one will ever be able to match what he has achieved. He gave back to people through his charity work and was an amazing father and human being. Michael touched people of every race, nationality, age and was the first truly global superstar. He is one of the all time greats and his role in popular culture will never be surpassed and never ever be forgotten.” Aside from this video, what else did Michael and the supermodel have in common? Both their mothers are Jehovah’s Witnesses and endeavored to raise them “in the Truth.”

  1. …and they should have both LISTENED to their MAMA’s!!! Naomi wouldn’t be throwing fits (and cell phones) at people and going to court and jail over her uncontrolled rages; and Michael wouldn’t have had anything ILLEGAL administered to him (sigh)…..Mama knows best!

    • What was illegal that was. Administered to MJ? Propofol is not illegal and the combination of Propofol and benzodiazepines is not illegal, it happens all the time in a hospital setting for surgical procedures. Using propofol as a “sleep aid” is also not illegal, its against the manufacturers instructions for use and highly irresponsible for a trained professional to do. I do not agree with using an anaestetic as a at home sleep aid, I just wanted to clarify that no illegal drugs were administered, just legal drugs administered improperly.

  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNjzSOedF8A O:33-0:37 is it naomi campbell dancing with Michael??

  3. Poor MJ being scared of The Black Panther Maomi. that’s funny , “he was scared because i’m a nympho”, poor mike. what a man supposed to do? i don’t think he was scared of naomi. i don’t get michael, he told her he was scared of her, yet at the 1996 WMA in Monaco, he was the one whispering in her ear, and tugging on her dress in the midsection.

but that’s funny mj was scared of sweet naomi. why was he scared? he was a grown man, he could have just told naomi, no means no.lol,

naomi , i’m a nympho. she was trying to corrupt po mikey. but i bet he enjoyed every bit of the nympho’s fawning over him. lol. calling her a fawn. that man had game, and wondered why women wanted to give him some. lol. love mj.

  4. It’s amazing how all the black women that ever had contact with MJ, treated him like a man, and gave him that respect like a man. Sure, some may have been too forward with him, but atleast by their accounts, MJ was alluring. Not once did Naomi Campbell say, oh he’s weird, she admitted that she was the one too forward, only because she was told to do so. she seemed quit attracted to MJ.

Ola Ray, i mean she could have gone on and on about MJ being scared and asexual, but she didn’t. Ola only spoke of MJ as being all man.

Grace Rwaramba testified in court defending him and taking the blame for a financial situation in the Middle East. The woman was actually crying.

Stephanie Mills defended him in the media, and he never admitted that they dated. She ryde for MJ.

And Kai Chase, when he died and his sexuality was questioned, she admitted that he was openly attracted to her.

So, at the end of the day, it is my opinion that if he had a black wifey at home, she would have had his back, she would have proclaimed to the world that he was all man, and when times got hard, she would have held MJ down, and would have been a warrior for him. jmo. mind you, if the woman was a little hood, his people would not have been calling the shots. look at michelle obama, she holds pres. obama down, ain’t nobody coming in between she and pres. obama. a real woman would have been like,”i wish his employees would keep me away from my husband”. lol. please don’t take offense to this statement.

    • lol I agree with you.

Don’t forget Diana Ross. I forget what interview it was (there’s been more than one) but she speaks strongly about MJ and how she feels when people would talk [badly] about him.

Its too bad he couldn’t find someone like his mother to marry.

  5. I have OFTEN felt that if the RIGHT wife had been before Diane Sawyer, she would have gotten her butt TOLD OFF royally! His wife could have been ANY race, but Lisa Marie was TOO TIMID with Diane. She should have angrily been pissed off and said, “How DARE you put down my marriage to The KOP! He’s MY wonderful husband and YOU’VE GOT A LOTTA NERVE to suggest ANY woman would not have fallen in love with a great and sexy man like him, and I am OUTRAGED at your disrespectful and stupid insinuations and snide remarks, you witch!”

Lisa did “try” in her own way to set Diane Sawyer straight, but Lisa KNOWS HOW to get mean and nasty, and she had every right to be indignant and should have put her bad temper to good use by blasting Diane Sawyer to pieces and cursing her out live!

I also think Lisa should have elaborated a little more about what a fantastic lover Michael was, and maybe they should have been more open with PDA on the show. It would have been so satisfying for us if they’d been all hugged up on a couch, caressing each other and smooching lovingly throughout the interview. But, of course, if they’d done that, EVERYBODY would have claimed it was fake anyway! Even if they’d made a sex tape and leaked it to the media, people would have said it was an impersonator! Let’s face it, the world would not ALLOW this couple to win (sigh).

And I always wondered how MICHAEL would have answered the question, “Do you two have sex?” Instead of jumping in FIRST, Lisa shoulda been cool and let Michael handle it. But one thing’s for sure, MOST normal women (and especially Black women) would have been SMART enough to have had as many healthy, beautiful babies as humanly possible with MJ and been proud and happy bearing them! THIS was Lisa’s biggest mistake, besides letting herself be influenced by haters’ negative talk and then impulsively divorcing the man she truly loved and wanted in her bed forever. What a shame.

  6. did mj ever say that lmp was a great love affair, i don’t recall him ever saying that. i think they wanted different things. mj wanted a woman that would understand his obsessive need to help children and help heal them. she wasn’t focus on that, she wanted a marriage. michael wanted to give his love to others and she couldn’t understand that. they were two different and it didn’t work out. people should let that relationship go, especially since mj said that he moved on, and lmp obviously moved on. people read fanfics and interviews and think they know michael. when lmp left michael was not hurt at all by it. Teddy Riley said so, and when he was at the opening of the Magic Johnson theatre, he didn’t look upset about the divorce when asked.

and the whole thing with tatiana, maybe mj would have contacted her, if she didn’t go on to date different men in the industry. that’s her fault.

naomi campbell, maybe she would have gotten further if she wouldn’t have been all over him, while dancing at the party in front of kids. he didn’t want kids to see that.

  7. not teddy riley but spike lee said so, it’s on youtube.

  8. I believe that Michael loved Lisa Marie and that the two of them were very much interested in helping children. She stated that she adored kids too and was a “big kid” herself with her own 2 children. She enjoyed the humanitarian activities of their marriage. I honestly don’t think they were all-that different in many ways. It’s reported that they had a passionate love life and the courtship happened naturally. It didn’t work out because Lisa let too many haters bend her ear negatively about him which caused her to get impatient with him. He was over-anxious for her to start pushing out babies without focusing more on nurturing better communication in the marriage, and he became impatient with her too. They should have had couples’ couseling and Lisa’s mama should have stayed OUT of THEIR relationship!

Yes, he moved on in order to have children, but it seems he married someone he appreciated and respected but did not romantically love. Debbie was truly just a surrogate.

Lisa was sickened and heartbroken and chasing after MJ to take her back FOR YEARS after the divorce. Nicholas Cage even felt that she was still enamored with MJ during their very brief fiasco, and it was probably one reason he divorced her. Her and Michael were very much more in sync with each other than her and Nick. MJ & LMP were better partners. We CAN’T let this relationship “go,” because it was all part of Michael’s history, a big, vital part!

I agree with you about Tatiana and Naomi. He probably saw Tatiana as a golddiggin’ fass hussy, and Naomi as just a wild “pussy” pouncing on him!

Debbie Rowe, and Michael himself, said he WAS hurt (devastated) over the divorce. OF COURSE, he wasn’t going to SHOW IT to the world at a public premiere or to his macho buddies, Spike Lee and Teddy Riley, girl! MJ was too COOL for that.

  9. What i was trying to say was that Naomi was attracted to him, and he misread the script that she was given as her being abrasive, which it wasn’t. she was told what to say to him, and she did her job. Mj should have recognized that, and shook it off, as she was acting her part. now, as far as the dancing at the party with kids, for all we know the fans may have misread michael reaction to naomi.

and tatiana,i feel for this girl, i really do. because mj should have addressed his issues with her, and not allow others to speak for him.

michael had all these black women interested in him, and he didn’t marry one, obviously he didn’t want a black wife, and honestly i’m starting to think that to bring up mj crushes, etc, is mute because he married two white women. but it’s the black girlfriends, friends were the ones holding him down in the media. typical of us to do such a thing. i had to write Firpo Carr who wrote an article about mj video women, i told him, how is it a positve thing for black women that mj used us as his video women, but in real life he married two white women. i went on to tell him how insulting his article was to black women. he understood. i know alot of black females lost love and respect for michael because he didn’t openly date/marry a black woman.

  10. oh and for the record, I remember Bashir interview, the interview was done with a lack of respect because Bashir had issues with him, as a black man , and his obvious change in physical appearance, and the fact that his kids looked white at the time. i remember Bashir asking mj, why didn’t he have a child with a black woman? and mj gave his answer that blanket’s mother was black but with white skin. Bashir was like whatever, but Blanket has white skin.

We don’t want to admit it, but the reason MJ had so many problems is that the world didn’t see a man that had black pride. They judged him based on what the media and his publicists put out there, and it wasn’t “down with my blackness”, it was catered towards white. so at the end of the day he had noone to blame for people perception of himself, but him alone. instead of creating some image for himself, MJ should have been his real self to the media. i don’t think he had problems with his race, because the majority of his employees were black, and friends were black. MJ should have demanded his publicist put those images out there. There is a saying, a man that doesn’t love his own, how can he love me. or i can’t respect a man that doesn’t love his own. sure michael was about love and peace and loving all mankind, but the world isn’t like that, especially those who control media. if michael would have catered to blacks more openly, i venture to say those who despise him, and sought to take him down a few pegs, probably would have respected him more. jmo.

    • IMHO, I believe that MJ lied about a few things in his life, & I’m not going to get into it here, but he should have been more straight-forward about a lot of things, such as whom he was dating, & not really caring what the media, or some fans, had to say. I believe that his lack of embracing Black women as real life love interests was detrimental to him, not just his career. Why keep his Black girlfriends secret? Why did he do that? Just to please the media & some fans? What kind of common sense is that? The thing is, ppl would have to accept it, whether they liked it or not. Sure, he probably wouldn’t have been the biggest star on the planet, but looked what happened to him in the end. He would’ve been a whole lot happier if he WASN’T the biggest star.

Also, I’m sure that there were several Black women who would’ve LOVED to give him kids, but does anyone REALLY want to have their womb on loan, just to give somebody kids, but you don’t have any emotional attachment to the kids? Wouldn’t you rather have a loving marriage to produce your kids by, so that the kids are in a loving, nuturing environment? That’s the best gift you can give your kids: knowing that their parents truly love each other, for they’ll know that THEY are loved.

  11. Look, Mike liked the idea of marrying ELVIS PRESLEY’S daughter. If she had been African, Asian, Hispanic, or any other race in the world, Michael would have STILL wanted her for his wife because of her OWN celebrity, fortune, fame, good looks, sensuality, and cool personality. LMP liked all of that too in him. So, when he wooed her, he and she FELL IN LOVE (or were greatly infatuated with each other), so this made the union ideal for BOTH of them. Actually they were the PERFECT couple!

He next married sweet Debbie Rowe because she OFFERED to be a surrogate for him. If a loving Black woman had volunteered her womb and she was a good friend he’d known for years and trusted fully, perhaps he would have accepted her offer too. WE DON’T KNOW, do we?

So, PRODUCING CHILDREN was his MAIN agenda. If he had wanted 100% WHITE children, he would have adopted them or had them produced by a white male sperm donor. Instead, he used his OWN, so obviously, he WANTED Black children — which he got with all 3. IT DOESN’T MATTER what skin shade they have on the OUTSIDE. MJ had NO CONTROL over their skin tones. Only GOD with His DNA did. BTW, Michael Jackson is NOT God!

But, if PPB had been born with darker skin and tightly-curled hair, and with wider noses and fatter lips, do you think Michael would have loved them any LESS? I don’t! Do you think he would have been ashamed of them? No way! Would he have cut them out of his will and disowned them? Never!

Michael’s SKIN turned white because of the vitiligo, NOT because he did not have Black pride. He DID! Don’t be so crazy.

That’s all to the story. STOP second-guessing him and TRYING to put him down! You are obviously a Black woman, so why aren’t you totally SUPPORTING and RESPECTING your honorable Black KING?!

    • Just a question, but isn’t this page about Naomi Campbell?? Why are we discussing LMP & Debbie Rowe??? And don’t they have their OWN pages to discuss them on???

  12. Great post – and RIP Michael Jackson, black OR white – we all love you and miss you!!

  13. 1. I am a black woman, and? i made the statement that michael was an easy target for haters, and journalists like Bashir and Fox News because of the misperception of MJ being anti-black. There is nothing wrong with me stating what Bashir asked MJ to his face. Why didn’t he not have a baby with a black woman? People want to like there is something wrong with my statements, and it’s not. Many nonblack people disrespected MJ, disliked him, had no love for him because of the perception that he distanced himself from his own. that’s what i was talking about. And for the record, MJ was not “black people’s king”, he was a musical icon, that’s it. black folks accepted that about him, it was other races who idolized him, and acted like he was untouchable. MJ knew some things he pulled with white folks, he couldn’t do that with us. Why do you think the majority of his employees and friends were black, because he knew who he could be Michael Joesph with. King, please!, it was Europeans falling over him, like he was Henry X.

And the whole Naomi Campbell thing, since he said that he was attracted to women in his videos, they would have made a sexy couple, but privately. I don’t think MJ wanted to go that route publicly. He wanted to maintain a certain aura about himself, and having Naomi would mean that he would no longer have that “safe” image. He would have been as Teddy Riley said, “gettin it in”. It probably would have been better for him to cut the Peter Pan image and openly be seen with grown women. Take Janet, she has said that she is living for her, and not other people. MJ should have been the same way.

    • On your comment that MJ kept his relationships with black women secret, I don’t believe that at ALL:

He kept his relationships with WOMEN in genreal secret. Do you really think that Tate, Brooke, and Lisa are the only white women he ever dated or was attracted to? The only reason why we know of them is because people found out about them.

He was with Tate before his serious fame began [pre-Off the Wall], so he wasn’t AS closed off to speaking to the media. At the time he openly admitted to being on and off with Janelle and Tatum.

Brooke and him had been friends since ’81, but people didn’t start talking about a romance until she pushed him into taking ehr to the Grammys and AMAs [he did it as a favour].

And as we’ve also learned he was dating LMP in secret as well, THAT only came out because they got married.

As for black women he’s dated, some of those [Janelle, Stephanie, etc.] have made it into the papers, but the media barely dwelled on those relationships, or just passed them off completely. One even said that the Stephanie thing was drummed up for appearances by MJs people, so his black fans wouldn’t think he only liked white women.

Once MJ saw that the media was connecting him with them he went along with it as part of his image I guess. Also, he’s said that many women he’s dated have been not famous, and so he chooses not to speak of them.

MJ did not hide ONLY his relationships with black women from the public. He hid ALL relationships with women from us, lest they got out, and it became obvious that something between them was possibly happening.

Anyway, no offenses meant, just speaking my mind.

      • Not to nitpick or anything, but on the Diane Sawyer interview MJ & LMP had in ’95, didn’t they say that they were out in the open w/their relationship, & were surprised that ppl were shocked at their getting married?

        • They weren’t specifically hiding it but they weren’t announcing it either.

If LMP hadn’t accepted his proposal she would just be another woman he was associated with that nobody would believe he was with.

The way he was with Lisa is the way he was with a lot of women…

        • If LMP hadn’t accepted his proposal she would just be another woman he was associated with that nobody would believe he was with.

  14. P.S. great post, La Cienega, can’t wait for the next ones.

  15. This is old and isn’t about Naomi Campbell. This is about Kai Chase.I mentioned in a post that I thought that she and MJ would have been a sexy couple. Someone replied that Kai Chase is married. That isnot true. I follow a few people on twitter, and she is one. I am a fan of Kai Chase, and she talks about her boyfriend. she has an interview with a English magazine , talking about how MJ played a practical joke on her. She recalled an incident in which Prince told her that her boyfriend was there. So she goes to into the other room, and MJ has one of his manaquins dressed like him, he pops from behind the mannequin, and says, “Gotcha”. Kai never mentions a husband. I will one day, post her statements verbatum to validate my opinion that they would have made a cute couple. Because she love his style of fathering. She described it as “Willy Wonka” style of fathering. Kai is athletic and loves Disney. I just think they would have been great together. She’s younger than him, and the kids really enjoyed her. Kai talks about sneaking out of the house with Paris to dig for snalils, for Paris snail farm.I just think that of all the women near MJ, should have been the perfect match.

  16. Of all the women MJ was connected to, attracted to, etc. I, personally think Kai Chase would have been the perfect match for him. 1. She’s younger. 2. She wasn’t married, sure she has a boyfriend, but whatever.I know for a fact she isn’t married because she talks about her boyfriend on twitter , an interview she talks about mj dressing up an mannequin, surprising her, after Prince said her boyfriend was waiting for her. 3. Kai admired what she called his Willie Wonka style of fathering. 4. The kids and MJ spent alot of time in the kitchen with her. 5. Kai had her own money, celebrity. she didn’t need MJ. I, think at the end of the day there was an attraction between MJ and Kai. Personally, I would have wanted MJ to be linked to Kai rather than Grace. Kai would have been a better match than the other women he rumored to have liked or dated, cuz she has a youthful nature about her, and from her interviews his childlike qualities she seemed fond of. jmo.

    • I agree I think they would’ve been cute. Where can I find the interview of her about the mannequin story??

  17. Family Chef on torment of Michael Jackson kids/The Sun/Features

    • Thanx

  18. I believe Naomi was with Robert De Niro in 1992.

    • She was, yup. She still made a play for Mike though.

  19. MJ enjoyed every moment of it. I don’t believe the stories of MJ being scared. not by the way he acted at the world music awards on stage. mj knew how to keep people out of his business. and naomi speaks of him fondly, not a woman scorned.

  20. This video shows exactly what actually went on between mj and naomi. He is not acting like a scared man. Cheesing as she caress his chest, Looking deep into her eyes like he want to devour her. Also look at the way he’s liking a biting his lips, almost like he wants to eat her up. he looks horny for her. Mj looks very much into naomi. Maybe he said that because he was frontin…who knows but his action saids otherwise.I saw a part in one of the videos where it looks like naomi wispered something to mj and he raised his eyebra, then he start to bit his bottom lip while giving naomi a naughty look. I Predicted she must have wispered something nasty to mj but he seem to like it. Matter of fact he looked turned on because they give her a tensed look.

If mj was uncomfortable with naomi it was probably because she was doing such a good job turning him on. She was threaten to unleash his freaky side and mj had to keep her in check, at least while they were in public.

    • I mean he gived he a tensed look

  21. mj said that every angle on camera for his videos, he choreographed. so there is no way, mj wasn’t going along with the flirtatious thing. he could have easily fired naomi, but he didn’t. he was a grown man, there is no way in the world he didn’t enjoyed that, an probably played along. I, agree he probably became annoyed with her flirting with him, because MJ was probably easily aroused by her. And he didn’t want something to be visible.(lol) Please watch the Sexy Version. That man was by no means shy. by the table scene he loved every moment of Naomi dominating him. lol .

  22. loved him biting his lip, while she comes up to his face, hot. I, bet he had to take so many cold showers. And think of Tito in a dress.

  23. I was looking at the comments on Shana Mangatal facebook photo and one of Michael back up look a like stand in or whatever u call them shared something cute!! He said him and Michael conversated about attractive woman LOL! He mentioned Naomi 😀

Darrick Morgan ‎@Ana, I’m not sure if Michael was jealous of me spending a lot more time with Shana but teasing me. We like talking about attractive women all the time like Iman on the set of “Remeber The Time” video, or how Naomi Campbell was way more active on the set of “In The Closet” video. Just thinking back makes me miss Michael on how cool he was to know.

  24. ^he may have some tea lolll

  25. MJ was physically attracted to Naomi and Iman. First, Naomi you could tell he was attracted to her, by his actions at the WMAs. The fact that he grabbed her dress and whispered to her that she looked gorgeous, or the fact that of all the video, MJ picked Naomi for the ITC video and the SexyVersion. I, so wanted these two to hook up.Back in the day, I wanted Naomi and MJ to pull a Brad and Angelina and just come out with a full fledge love affair.I was young, so forgive me. lol. But, whenever they were on t.v. they were so hot.Even Prince Albert noticed MJ doing way too much.lol Naomi should have been, “I’m not thinking about my man tonight. I bet if she wanted to hook up with MJ, and he was down, than it would have popped off, because MJ kept his secrets even from his family. If I was Naomi I would have been like, Mike, where are the confidentiality papers, let’s get it poppin. lol

Now, Iman, it was so cute, she said that MJ was to scared. lol. But, that RTT video was hot. I loved the part with the finger motion as he sang,”As I digged it in”. lol He picked the baddest supermodel for that. You could tell MJ was attractive to her. It irritated me, that MJ didn’t hook up, or pursue Naomi or Iman, it would have taken him into a different direction, and probably have more people embrace him than laugh at him.

  26. What does”Naomi was more active on the set of ITC means”? Did MJ liked or found it amusing, charming, that Naomi was active on the set? and what does he means by “active”?

  27. was there a relationship between them
i heard that naomi got MJ very hot and said he had a big you-know-what-i-mean

and in the video michael did to seem enjoying
    what naomi was doing

    just saying
